A fundamental Rights petition has been filed to cancel the nomination handed over by the United National Front Party to the Monaragala district.

UNF member Janakka Tissa Kuttiarachchi in his petition appealed to remove the name Senaka Ratnayake and to include his name in the said nomination.

He said until a complete inquiry is held in this matter, election should not be held in the Monaragala District.

He alleged that his name was in the candidates list prepared by the United National Font but at the last moment his name was dropped and another name was included, creating angers among the Monaragala District United National party members.

UNP Party’s General Secretary Tissa Attanayake said that a complete investigation will be conducted in this connection.
