A former medical student of Jaffna University was shot dead by unidentified armed men at his house at Pottpathi Veethi in Kokkuvil, Jaffna around 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
Identified as Gunaratnam Suhantheepan, the victim had been working with the Intelligence Wing of Sri Lanka Army and he had hands behind many incidents of killing and abduction in Jaffna peninsula, local people said.
Earlier, Suhantheepan had worked for the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
